QBasic Sprite Editor

So I’ve been slowly programming a sprite editor for QBasic these last few weeks, but am having trouble in completing it. Suffice to say, it’s a bitch of a programming language. Small issues keep popping up that I have to specially handle and it doesn’t feel like I’m getting anywhere. Why create this sprite editor? Well I’d like to do a more complete, correct Mooninite’s game. Once again I feel it deserves to be done in a language from the era they humorously represent. Frankly, I’ve been getting ideas on other projects to do and will put this one on hold for a bit. My next idea will be done in Java so I’ll feel like I”m actually making some progress.

Update: Sprite Editor Released.

I have no idea how I missed it, but I accidentally came across Google pages. A simple (still beta) website creator. This solves my issue of not having a place to upload files. So after a few minutes in creating, I have a new permanent home for anyone to grab the mooninite’s game. Click the header to go to the download page.

Mooninite’s In QBasic

I had attended a 24 hour coding competition with the Geek Club at my school. My original intent was to just hang out with everyone there. I started getting a little board and my urge to program was kicking it. Well with everyone else programming, it was hard not to join them. I decided to revisit my QBasic days and see what I could whip up. This competition, to be a bit more specific, was to see who could program the best game in 24 hours. Everyone had teams of three or two. In the end I came up with a quick space invaders mock game with a Mooninite theme. Considering I started late and only had about 12 hours, the game didn’t turn out too bad. I have no way of posting the file myself, so instead the header will link you to the file on the Clubs webpage. Source code included.

Update: Sprite Editor Released.

So I ran across an interesting article demonstrating how easy it was to dupe Comcast. All the person had was a phone number and an address and was able to get account info by pretending to be a Comcast tech out in the field. Check the link out. It reminded me of an old memory way back in 2000 or was it 2001? Anywho, I had attended a H.O.P.E convention in New York City. One of the classes was a Social Engineering class in which Kevin Mitnick spoke. Well more like he called in and took questions because he was still in jail at that time. LoL.
